Police Seize Cannabis Worth Rs 9 Lakh at Dharmanagar Railway Station

Agartala: Tripura Police arrested a 35-year-old man on Friday night after discovering 19 kilograms of cannabis in his possession at the Dharmanagar railway station. The suspect, identified as Swapan Nath, was apprehended during a late-night security check conducted by local authorities.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Mukulendu Das stated that officers launched the operation after receiving a tip-off regarding the transport of narcotics. Upon questioning, Nath admitted to carrying the contraband, which officials estimate has a street value of approximately Rs 9 lakh. Nath reportedly revealed that he had sourced the drugs from Mohanpur in the West Tripura district before traveling to the station.

Police have officially registered a case against Nath. Officers are continuing their investigation into the incident to determine the scope of the operation and identify any potential associates.
