Police Seize 530 Grams of Brown Sugar in Senapati

Imphal: Senapati police and CRPF units intercepted a major drug shipment Tuesday morning. The bust happened at the T-Khullen Naka checkpoint around 8 am. Officers stopped a Tata Yodha pickup truck during a routine frisking operation. A search of the vehicle turned up 42 soap cases stuffed with 530 grams of suspected brown sugar.

Authorities identified the two arrested suspects as 45-year-old Helkho Kipgen and 40-year-old Hatneilhing Kipgen, both residents of Kangpokpi district. Police also seized the vehicle, two mobile phones, 5,000 rupees in cash, and a sack used to conceal the drugs. Everything is now held at the Senapati Police Station.

A combined force executed the operation, involving the Special Operation Team, Women Police Station staff, and two CRPF battalions. Officials are now working to track the supply chain. Police said, "further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the suspected narcotic substance and to identify others, if any, involved in the alleged drug trafficking network."
