Guwahati: Cachar Police and the Assam Rifles hit the streets late Friday night. They seized heroin and thousands of pills worth 5 crore rupees. Two suspects landed in handcuffs during the raid.
The haul included 942 grams of heroin along with 10,000 Yaba tablets. Authorities are still working to track where the drugs came from and where they were headed. The investigation is ongoing.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the joint effort on social media. He called the work "another step towards a drug-free Assam" while highlighting the coordination between the two agencies. The state government maintains that its campaign against local trafficking networks remains a top priority.
