Police Probe Torture Claims at Assam De-Addiction Center

Guwahati: Police are investigating the Come Back Foundation in Nagaon after reports of systematic abuse surfaced. The facility sits at Hussain Market in Kadamoni. Parents filed an official report at the Batadrava Police Station. This triggered a formal probe into the owners, Ekramul Islam Mazumdar and Ilias Ahmed.

Former inmates describe a hellish reality. They say staff tied them up by their hands and feet before delivering beatings. This was their version of therapy. No medical care occurred. Azijul Haque says he suffered permanent damage during his stay. He stated, "I was repeatedly assaulted while restrained, resulting in five of his teeth being broken."

The investigation highlights a dark trend. Private rehab centers are popping up across the state. Critics now question if these shops have actual doctors or trained staff. Many run without basic medical gear. The owners face serious allegations of violence. Police are currently digging into their operations.
