Guwahati: A community in Assam's Cachar district is reeling after 35-year-old Ruhul Uddin Talukdar was found dead in his Rajnagar home. Dholai police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the discovery, as they seek to confirm whether the death was a suicide or involved foul play.
Ruhul's wife, Hasina Begum Borbhuiya, noted that her husband had been struggling with health issues for several months. She explained that financial strain compounded his difficulties, stating, "The financial pressure and prolonged illness had left him mentally distressed." The couple had argued on Sunday after Ruhul returned home with a leg injury sustained during a marketplace altercation. Following this, Hasina departed for her parental home, leaving him alone.
Local neighbors reported observing unusual activity at the house late Sunday night. Upon discovering the body, residents alerted authorities, triggering significant alarm throughout the area. Police recovered the remains on Monday morning in the presence of local panchayat members and transported them to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
While investigators continue to process evidence, they maintain that a definitive cause of death remains pending. Officials confirmed they will wait for the medical examiner's formal report before concluding the nature of the case.
