Shillong: A 52-year-old man died after being stabbed by Poly Dkhar, 56, in Iawpynsin on June 20. The suspect fled the scene, according to a complaint filed by Bhalang Dkhar.

Cyber criminals remain busy. One resident lost over two lakh rupees to a fraudulent gaming investment site called funningstar.com. Other victims reported WhatsApp hacks and credit card scams involving fake bank officials. One woman was targeted by a loan scammer who threatened to leak her private data. The caller demanded repayment for a loan the victim never took.

Police continue their war on drugs. Officers in Shillong busted a heroin ring on June 22. They arrested 21-year-old Sabina Begum with 16.1 grams of the drug. She later identified her supplier, 38-year-old Viru Singh. Police apprehended him in Punjabi Lane.

Border patrols remain tense. BSF troops seized dozens of cattle meant for smuggling near the Bangladesh border. In one incident, smugglers abandoned fourteen cows before fleeing into the jungle. BSF personnel also intercepted a scooter loaded for transit near BP No. 1284/7-S. The rider escaped. Arsonists targeted two trucks near the Dawki Police Station, hurling petrol bombs before locals put out the flames.

Property crime spikes across the state. Thieves ransacked a school in Tura and broke into a postal enclave in Shillong. Vandals also targeted a private residence, leaving the owner missing forty thousand rupees. Officials confirm that "the complainant also stated that the accused had instigated his landlord into chasing him out of the rented house."
