Police Investigate Disappearance of Coconut Shipment Worth Lakhs in Assam

Guwahati: A shipment of coconuts valued at more than Rs 3.46 lakh has disappeared while in transit from Assam to Bihar. The consignment, which originated from the Kadamoni Market in Batadrava, was intended for delivery to Muzaffarpur when communication with the transport vehicle was suddenly severed.

Trader Jiarul Islam hired the Maharashtra-based A.K. Transport to move the cargo on June 16. Suspicion grew when the truck failed to arrive at its destination as scheduled. After repeated attempts to reach the driver and company representatives failed, Islam contacted the Batadrava Police Station to file a formal complaint.

The trader alleges that the loss of the vehicle and goods is a deliberate act of criminality. In his official statement, he noted that the "disappearance of the truck was a planned act of fraud" and requested urgent help to recover the shipment. Local traders at the Kadamoni market remain anxious as the investigation unfolds. Authorities have since registered the case and are currently searching for the missing truck and its cargo.
