Police hunt driver after deadly hit-and-run in East Jaintia Hills

Shillong: A man lies dead in a morgue. East Jaintia Hills police are hunting for the driver who struck and killed him in a hit-and-run at Pamchyndai, near Rymbai village, late on June 27. The crash happened around 8:30 pm.

Officers from the Ladrymbai Outpost arrived to find the man already dead on the road. They took the body to the Khliehriat Civil Hospital mortuary, where it sits unclaimed and unidentified. Investigators are working to track down the vehicle and the person behind the wheel.

Authorities are desperate for leads. They asked the public to come forward, stating, "Police have urged anyone with information regarding the victim’s identity to contact the Ladrymbai Outpost or the nearest police station." Nobody has claimed the body yet.
