Guwahati: A woman was found dead in Bongaon village near Rupahihat, Assam, on June 18, sparking allegations of foul play from her family. The deceased, Maina Bordoloi, was discovered under mysterious circumstances, prompting a rapid response from local authorities.

While the husband's family insists that the death was a suicide by hanging, the victim's relatives strongly reject this narrative. They claim Maina suffered from persistent physical and mental harassment at the hands of her husband's family. Demanding a full investigation, they argue the scene was staged to cover up a murder.

Officers from the Ambagan Police Station have arrived at the site to collect evidence. As part of their ongoing inquiry, police have detained the victim's husband, Pankaj Bordoloi, for questioning. The body has been transferred to Nagaon for a formal post-mortem examination.

Police officials stated that it is too early to determine whether the case involves murder or suicide. Law enforcement maintains that the actual circumstances surrounding the woman's death will be established only after the completion of the investigation and receipt of the post-mortem report.
