Guwahati: Rupahihat police caught a suspected drug peddler with 122 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup. They found the contraband stashed inside a paddy threshing machine. It was a clever attempt to hide the illicit goods from authorities.

Officers raided the site at Fakoli after receiving a tip-off. Anwar Hussain is currently in custody following the operation. The seizure is part of a wider crackdown on local narcotics trafficking, officials said. Police are now working to crack the supply chain wide open. Investigators are interrogating Hussain to figure out where the stash came from and who else is involved.

The force remains focused on the case. "Police are continuing to interrogate the accused to ascertain the source of the contraband, identify other persons involved in the supply network and determine its intended destination," authorities stated.
