Guwahati: Khatowal Police arrested a man posing as a doctor in Nagaon district. Nazrul Islam ran a clinic called M/S Primary Health Care in the Penai Bazar area of Samaguri. He treated patients for a long time despite having zero medical qualifications. The bust comes after the Assam Chief Minister ordered a crackdown on unqualified practitioners across the state.
Officers raided the site and hauled away medical gear and drugs. Police confirmed the seizure of various instruments and medicines found at the scene. The suspect remains in custody while investigators dig into the operation. Officials are currently working to determine if others helped Islam run his practice. A police spokesperson stated, "Khatowal Police are continuing their investigation to ascertain the extent of the alleged illegal medical practice and whether more people were involved."
