Guwahati: Police in Dhubri, Assam, arrested two men Monday for running an illegal drug operation. Officers raided the Chotobajani area acting on a tip about narcotics sales. They caught their targets red-handed.

The suspects are Riyajul Hoque from Adabari Part-II and Ejaj Sheikh of IG Road. Both fall under the Dhubri Police Station jurisdiction.

Law enforcement searched the suspects and found 134 Spas Plus capsules, 69 Nitrazepam tablets, and seven bottles of cough syrup containing Codeine and Triprolidine Hydrochloride. They also took 5,000 rupees in cash. Officials believe the money came directly from illicit drug deals.

The authorities have filed a formal case under the NDPS Act. Investigators are now working to dismantle the wider distribution network. A police official noted that "further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and identify others involved in the illegal distribution network." The haul remains in police custody as the probe continues.
