Guwahati: Cops in Silchar shut down a suspected drug den operating out of a public toilet on Trunk Road. Officers detained one man for questioning after residents raided the facility and found needles and pills. The site had become a magnet for shady characters over the last few months. Locals finally grew tired of the activity and decided to take a look inside.

The search turned up used syringes and various tablets. Neighbors alerted the police immediately. Officers arrived, secured the evidence, and hauled one person into custody. Authorities are now leaning on the man to name his accomplices. Police said the detained person is being interrogated to ascertain the extent of his involvement and to determine whether other individuals were part of the alleged drug trafficking network.

The bust has locals on edge. Residents are demanding a total sweep of the area to catch everyone involved in the ring. They want better surveillance at all public toilets to stop this from happening again. Investigators have promised a full sweep of the case and strict action against anyone else caught in the net.
