Guwahati: Authorities in Assam detained 13 individuals on June 15 following a major police raid at the Orbit Hotel in Jorhat. Acting on intelligence reports regarding long-term illegal activity at the premises, officers apprehended eight women and five men to face questioning.

The operation was managed by the district Senior Superintendent and Additional Superintendent of Police. Investigators believe the hotel served as a hub for an illicit network for the past three years. Preliminary findings suggest the operation reached beyond Jorhat, with potential connections to Nagaon, Kaziranga, and Sivasagar.

Police are currently looking into the role of a woman suspected of facilitating the activities. "All 13 detainees are being questioned, and officials indicated that further arrests may follow as the investigation progresses," local sources stated. Investigators have yet to disclose the names of those detained as they work to map the full extent of the network and determine if interstate connections exist.
