Police Arrest Woman in Tirap Drug Bust

Itanagar: Police arrested 39-year-old Nyamyang Thingnok in the Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh this week. The bust took place at Batey Colony in Deomali during a joint operation between local police and district officials. Officers recovered suspected heroin with an estimated street value of Rs 4.5 lakh from the residence.

The search also turned up Rs 9,700 in cash. Investigators believe the money came from illegal drug sales. They also seized a mobile phone and other evidence. Thingnok had been on the run since May 15. That was when police filed a drug case that led to the capture of two of her associates. She had already faced previous legal action under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Official sources stated, "The accused, identified as 39-year-old Nyamyang Thingnok, was arrested during a joint operation carried out by the police and district administration at Batey Colony in Deomali."
