Police Arrest Two Suspects in Jamugurihat Chain-Snatching Spree

Guwahati: Jamugurihat police in Assam have taken two men into custody following a string of thefts and chain-snatching crimes. Officers identified the suspects as Abdul Rahim and Monirul Islam, capturing them during an operation in the Manshri area.

Authorities stated that the pair allegedly caused widespread alarm across several parts of Jamugurihat by targeting local residents. Investigators confirmed that the accused focused their efforts on vulnerable victims, stating, "the two had allegedly created panic in different parts of Jamugurihat by targeting residents and snatching gold chains from women."

The duo specifically targeted individuals in the Jiyori-Worari area before fleeing the scenes of their crimes. Police launched an investigation based on specific intelligence, which ultimately led to the arrests. Officials are now conducting further inquiries to determine if the suspects are linked to other criminal activities within the region.
