Itanagar: Banderdewa Police arrested three individuals on June 3 after seizing suspected heroin at the Banderdewa Check Gate. The operation followed intelligence reports regarding narcotics being smuggled from Assam into Arunachal Pradesh.

A police team, led by Inspector Kipa Hamak, intercepted a Maruti Alto at the checkpoint. A search of the vehicle uncovered 30 vials containing approximately 38.70 grams of suspected heroin. The occupants were identified as Khyoda Mama, Khoda Tadi, and Guriya Rai.

Authorities registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Police are now working to determine the origin of the drugs and uncover the broader distribution network. The arrest is part of a wider effort led by Naharlagun Superintendent of Police Dr. Nyelam Nega to reduce drug trafficking in the Itanagar Capital Region. Officers plan to maintain increased surveillance at key state entry points to deter future smuggling attempts.
