Kohima: Minister for Public Health Engineering Department and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi, officially upgraded the PM SHRI Government Middle School in Pihekhu to a Government High School on Friday. The ceremony took place in the Aghunaqa Area of Niuland district, marking a development intended to align with national efforts to transform India into a global educational hub.
Zhimomi encouraged local leaders and department officials to utilize this new facility to improve regional academic standards. He emphasized the responsibility of parents in prioritizing their children's schooling, noting, "Our best gift to our children will be installing the real education in them." The minister also urged community leaders to prioritize enrollment in government institutions, citing the high caliber of trained teachers currently serving there.
Addressing the stability of the school staff, Zhimomi requested that School Management Committees and local leaders stop issuing transfer certificates for teachers moving to urban centers. He stressed that keeping qualified educators in rural areas is essential for the success of the students.
Kitoshi Z Swu, the Senior Sub-Divisional Education Officer acting as the District Education Officer for Niuland, thanked the state government for supporting the upgrade. She praised the move as a major advancement for the Aghunaqa Area and encouraged the faculty to maintain their dedication to their students. The event concluded with performances from the students and formal addresses from village leadership.
