Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted Assam’s vibrant handloom heritage while addressing the Indian diaspora in The Hague, Netherlands, this Saturday. During the event, the Prime Minister was seen wearing the Aronai, a traditional scarf that serves as a profound symbol of the Bodo community’s cultural identity and pride.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the gesture, expressing his gratitude to the Prime Minister for representing the dignity of the state’s indigenous traditions on a global platform. Sarma noted that witnessing the Prime Minister carry the scarf with such grace serves as a significant recognition of the artistic contributions of the Bodo people.

Beyond the cultural symbolism, the Chief Minister credited Prime Minister Modi’s leadership for fostering a new era of stability and growth within the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Sarma highlighted the 2020 Bodo Peace Accord as a pivotal achievement that successfully ended decades of insurgency and empowered the autonomous council, paving the way for lasting peace and prosperity in the region.
