Pilgrim pushed from moving train in Assam

Guwahati: A Jammu man is recovering in an Assam hospital after attackers threw him from a moving train. Vicky Sharma was traveling home with four friends after visiting the Kamakhya Temple for the Ambubachi Mela.

The group boarded the Purvottar Sampark Kranti Express. As the train crossed the Naranarayan Bridge near Jogighopa, unidentified men shoved Sharma out of the carriage. The fall left him with serious injuries.

Locals found Sharma and rushed him to the Chalantapara Community Health Centre. Railway Police arrived shortly after the incident. They are currently investigating the crime and hunting for the suspects.

The violent encounter has terrified commuters. Questions remain about safety on rail lines during religious festivals. Local residents expressed shock over the attack, as one witness stated: "The incident has triggered concern among local residents and railway passengers alike, with questions being raised over the adequacy of security arrangements for travellers."

Authorities have not yet identified a motive for the attack. No suspects are in custody.
