Phek village leaders join Khet Bachao Abhiyan for sustainable farming

Kohima: ICAR-KVK Phek held a Sarpanch Sammelan and capacity building program at its Porba campus on June 13, 2026. The event focused on the Khet Bachao Abhiyan, a campaign dedicated to land preservation and agricultural sustainability.

Phek Superintendent of Police Dr. Pritpal Kaur attended as the special guest. She called on village leaders to lead community efforts and assist local farmers in adopting resilient, sustainable livelihood practices. She stated, "work collectively towards strengthening the agricultural sector and improving the socio-economic well-being of farming communities in the district."

Technical sessions featured expert presentations on modern farming strategies. Dr. T Esther Longkumer provided insights into natural farming, while Dr. Hannah K Assngla discussed integrated farming systems. Dr. Manjunath K S covered organic nutrient management for horticultural crops. Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh opened the event by outlining the goals of the campaign. The program concluded with stakeholders committing to the long-term protection and management of agricultural land in the region.
