Kohima: The Phek Town Chakhesang Students’ Union (PTCSU) has officially backed the Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) in protesting the prolonged delays plaguing the NH-29 Package-II road project. In a letter issued on June 5, the PTCSU voiced deep frustration over the failure to finish the Kohima to Jessami road despite numerous project extensions.
The union noted that the failure to meet established deadlines has caused significant hardship for local residents. According to the organization, the ongoing sluggish progress has hindered regional commerce and stifled socio-economic development. The PTCSU praised the CSU for its ongoing demand for higher standards, stating: "The concerns raised by the CSU reflect the collective aspirations and grievances of people who depend on the road for connectivity, commerce and development."
The PTCSU is now calling for immediate government intervention to ensure accountability from the executing agencies. The union emphasized that infrastructure funded by public resources must be handled with transparency and adherence to timelines. Moving forward, the PTCSU confirmed it will support all constructive efforts to ensure the road is completed and maintained for future generations.
