Kohima: Government officials in Peren have scheduled a district-wide mass social work event for May 22. Starting at 7:30 a.m., the initiative focuses on clearing roadside grass in areas spanning from Zero Point to the Deputy Commissioner’s residence and the G.A. House. Staff members are also required to clean their respective office buildings and surrounding grounds.
District Planning Officer Danyi Domeh stated that participation is mandatory for all government employees at the district headquarters and across all subdivisions. To ensure high turnout, the Deputy Commissioner’s office plans to monitor attendance strictly. As an incentive, the administration will award a prize to the cleanest departmental office, a decision reached during a recent District Planning and Development Board meeting.
Beyond government efforts, local NGOs, civil society organizations, and residents are encouraged to plant trees along roadsides throughout the monsoon season. This effort supports the district’s Green Peren declaration, which aims to protect local flora and fauna. All departments have been instructed to cooperate fully to ensure the program's success.
