P Longon Takes Charge as Nagaland Tax Advisor

Kohima: P Longon is stepping into his new role as Advisor for the Department of Taxes in Nagaland. The Naga People’s Front held a thanksgiving event at his Noklak home this Friday to celebrate the appointment. Longon previously managed Health and Family Welfare between 2015 and 2018. He thanked Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for the new assignment.

The veteran politician views his latest position as a chance to help his community. He told the crowd that holding a portfolio is "like a shed that provides shelter to the people." He asked his party members to stick with him as he takes on these new duties. He promised to work hard for the public good.

Imosong, the Joint Commissioner of Taxes, explained how the department operates. He reminded attendees that the agency focuses on revenue collection and noted the 2017 rollout of the GST. Local NPF officials and wing representatives attended the ceremony to show their support. They all offered speeches praising Longon’s track record and his future potential.
