Itanagar: A 51-year-old man from Arunachal Pradesh has died under suspicious circumstances in Andhra Pradesh, igniting public outrage over his treatment and the response of local authorities. Kamlo Mophuk, a resident of Lazu village, disappeared after disembarking from a train in Ongole due to a violent altercation with unidentified co-passengers. He had been traveling from Tinsukia to Bengaluru to visit his daughters.

Mophuk reportedly contacted his family on May 18, expressing fear that he was being followed after failing to receive help from railway or local police. His family lost contact with him the following morning. Authorities eventually recovered his body near a cemetery on May 21, though his relatives claim they were not notified until two days later.

The victim's family has accused the police of negligence, alleging that officials did not act on their pleas until a cabinet minister from Arunachal Pradesh intervened. While Andhra Pradesh police initially filed a case for unnatural death, activists and the family are pushing for a formal investigation into the reported assault. A post-mortem has been completed, but the family is still waiting for the final report to clarify the cause of death.
