Agartala: An inverted national flag flew for days at the Ichai Lalchhara Gram Panchayat office in the North District of Tripura. Locals spotted the mistake at the Kalachhara Block building. The flag remained upside down for two to three days. It stayed that way despite staff working nearby.
The Panchayat Pradhan, secretary, and staff enter the office daily. None of them fixed the error. The sight shocked the public. People called the blunder a gross insult to the Tricolour. This happened right as the country preps for the 80th Independence Day and the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
The campaign pushes for pride in national symbols. Residents now demand immediate action against those responsible for the oversight. One local resident stated, "Safeguarding the dignity of the national flag is the duty of every citizen and institution. This is not mere carelessness but a question of accountability."
Critics are attacking the ruling BJP over the incident. Opposition figures argue this reflects poorly on the party. The local administration faces intense pressure to address the failure. Officials have yet to release a formal response to the growing public anger.
