Officials gear up for Census 2027 across Nagaland

Kohima: Shamator and Kohima are readying for Census 2027. Officials held a sensitisation program for village leaders in Shamator to explain the shift to digital data collection. The session covered the responsibilities of village authorities in mapping households and helping enumerators.

EAC Shamator Mekato J Aye led the meeting. He told the village representatives: "Census is a vital exercise for planning, policy formulation and equitable development." He pressed the group to work with staff to keep the data accurate and on time.

The event also tackled the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Officials pushed the leaders to urge citizens to register to vote and fix any errors in existing records.

Meanwhile, Central Observer MK Tiwari inspected training drills in Kohima. He met with Deputy Commissioner B Henok Buchem to assess the progress of local enumerators. Tiwari wants high quality work. He told the officers to focus on thorough preparation before the operations begin.
