Shillong: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the final results of the National Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Examination (NIFTEE) 2026 for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The two-stage admission process for the academic year 2026-27 concluded with results published on June 2.
Stage 1: Written Examination
The process kicked off on February 8, 2026, when NTA conducted the Stage 1 exam across 129 centres in 97 cities. The test was held in both Hindi and English, using computer-based and paper-based modes. A total of 21,307 unique candidates had registered. Since many programmes required both the General Ability Test (GAT) and the Creative Ability Test (CAT), the total number of test entries stood at 40,247. Of these, 35,596 candidates appeared, marking an overall attendance of 88.44%.
Following the exam, provisional GAT answer keys were uploaded on February 17. Candidates could challenge them until February 19, but expert panels found no changes necessary. All 16,729 CAT answer sheets were scanned, digitised, and evaluated jointly by NTA and NIFT-appointed experts under strict confidentiality.
Stage 1 results were declared on March 20. Candidates were shortlisted in a 1:4 ratio category-wise and programme-wise based on combined GAT and CAT scores. Notably, for the Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech.) programme, there was no second stage; selection was based solely on the GAT score.
Stage 2: Interviews and Skill Tests
For postgraduate programmes, personal interviews were held in New Delhi from April 6 to April 11. A total of 2,081 candidates had registered, and 1,703 attended. These interviews assessed five core areas Career Orientation, Aptness for Programme, Achievements, Communication, and General Awareness each carrying 20 marks out of 100.
For undergraduate programmes, Stage 2 skill tests took place on April 26 across 28 centres in 20 cities. Out of 12,065 shortlisted candidates, approximately 10,432 appeared, recording an attendance of 86.46%. The tests varied by programme: B.Des. candidates took a Situation Test (Model Making), lateral entry students underwent studio or technical tests plus interviews, and artisan candidates faced skill tests followed by personal interviews.
