NSCN (IM) Declares Presidential Rule in Wung Tangkhul Region

Kohima: The NSCN (IM) has officially imposed Presidential Rule in the Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR) to address a breakdown in local stability. The leadership determined that normal regional administration had become unfeasible, leading to the appointment of a team of provisional authorities to oversee daily operations.

Veteran leader Maj Gen (Retd) Ramkathing Varah, who serves as a member of the Collective Leadership, will act as the convener for this new body. The group assumes all administrative responsibilities previously held by the Kilo Ministry. This governance structure will remain in place until the organization deems that normalcy has been fully restored.

In a separate directive, the NSCN (IM) also announced an immediate ban on the outbound movement of all commodities, including petroleum products, toward the Myanmar border. The Naga Army has received authorization to manage this mandate, with the group stating its soldiers will "monitor the situation and maintain strict round-the-clock surveillance along the entire length of the artificial Indo-Myanmar border line until further orders."

Officials have requested that regional authorities, civil society groups, and citizens provide full cooperation to the new administration. The group issued these orders, citing the Yehzabo of Nagalim, to ensure ongoing security and stability in the region.
