NPP Claims Declining Support for VPP in Khasi and Jaintia Hills

Shillong: Deputy Chief Minister and National People's Party vice president Sniawbhalang Dhar says the momentum the Voice of the People Party enjoyed during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections has significantly diminished. He claims that public backing for the party is dropping across both the Khasi and Jaintia Hills regions.

Addressing the current political climate, Dhar stated, "In Jaintia Hills, they are very much down. Even in Khasi Hills, every day their numbers are decreasing." While he did not provide specific data to support his assessment, he emphasized that the organization is observing a clear trend of supporters moving away from the VPP.

The NPP remains confident about the upcoming Shillong Lok Sabha by-election. Dhar credits this optimism to the dedication of party workers and a noticeable shift in voter sentiment. He believes the party is well-positioned to secure a victory as the political landscape continues to evolve in the region.
