Kohima: The NPF Central Farmers Wing, led by president Y. Vikheho Swu, visited the Pughoboto division on May 23 as part of a statewide tour. The initiative aims to gather feedback on farmers' challenges and identify gaps in current government policies. During the town hall meeting, Swu urged attendees to utilize existing programs, including the National Rural Livelihood Mission, MSME initiatives, and other departmental resources.

Swu encouraged farmers to maintain high production standards to keep their goods competitive in the market. He highlighted the One District One Product initiative, noting that Pughoboto has yet to establish a signature product that can be showcased at national levels. He advised farmers to explore profitable crops such as avocado, kiwi, and coffee, noting the state's recent progress in reaching world-class coffee standards.

While advocating for scientific farming methods and modern technology, Swu emphasized that traditional Jhum cultivation remains a vital part of Naga culture. He suggested that farmers should diversify their income through animal fodder, floriculture, and compost production while preserving indigenous agricultural knowledge. The tour, which involves three teams across the state, aims to align local efforts with both Nagaland’s 2030 sustainable development goals and the national Viksit Bharat 2047 initiative.
