Guwahati: Northeast International Fashion Week wrapped up its 10th edition with a firm commitment to the planet. Organizers chose the theme Save the Earth, Style the Future to push climate awareness. Designers, models, and industry leaders from across India and neighboring countries gathered to blend traditional handloom aesthetics with modern style.
Prasantt Ghosh, the designer and choreographer who leads the event, pushed for environmental conservation. He described the core mission behind the long-running project. Kreative People organized the show to help local talent reach national and international markets. The platform serves as a bridge for emerging creative professionals.
The event honored 10 leaders for growing the regional fashion scene. Award winners included actor Diganta Hazarika, fashion promoter Medha Saikia, and filmmaker Dipankar Kashyap. Fashion designer Meghna Rai Medhi, makeup artist Christina Joseph, and educators Sumita Dey Deka and Usmita also took home honors. Organizers recognized choreographer Meenu Paul alongside photographers Kamal Barman and Anup Baruah.
Runways featured talent from Assam, Manipur, Delhi, and West Bengal. Nepal joined the fray as international representation. Mumbai-based designers Felix Bendish and Sakshi Bindra sent their work down the runway. Debutants from Guwahati shared space with established veterans to showcase regional textiles.
The event has a history of championing social causes. Previous years targeted organ donation and support for old-age homes. Participants from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia have joined the event since its start. The focus remains on promoting local handicrafts to a wider audience.
