Agartala: Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated a one-day workshop in North Tripura on Wednesday to promote the Khet Bachao Abhiyan, or Save the Farm Campaign. The event, held at the Ragna Higher Secondary School in Dharmanagar, focused on equipping local farmers with modern scientific practices, pest management strategies, and better irrigation techniques to increase profitability.
Minister Nath stressed that the state government is prioritizing the agricultural sector by providing quality seeds and specialized training programs. During his keynote address, he noted that the nation's progress depends on the rural workforce, stating, "The nation’s overall progress is closely linked to the comprehensive development of farmers and urged them to take full advantage of government initiatives."
Local officials and lawmakers, including MLAs Jahar Chakraborty and Jadab Lal Debnath, attended the session alongside agricultural experts. They emphasized that current government schemes are designed to ensure the economic upliftment of those working in the fields. The event drew a large turnout from the farming community, who participated in discussions regarding sustainable farming and how to better utilize available government resources to safeguard their livelihoods.
