Shillong: Nongkseh SSCC has claimed the top position in Group A of the 5th Meghalaya State League after a clinical 2-0 win against Shillong Lajong FC. The match, held on May 18 at the SSA Stadium in Shillong, saw Nongkseh halt Lajong's impressive nine-match winning streak. After a cautious and scoreless first half where Lajong's Wilbert Marbaniang was denied by goalkeeper Guidle Syiemlieh, the game opened up in the second period. Nongkseh seized momentum with two rapid goals; Sheen Sohktung found the net in the 67th minute, followed quickly by Mebankhraw Wahlang in the 69th minute. This victory places Nongkseh at seven points from three matches, edging ahead of their rivals in the standings.

In the day's other fixture, defending champions Mawlai SC secured their first win of the quarterfinal stage by overcoming Rangdajied United FC 2-1. Basuklang Bina opened the scoring for Mawlai, though Rangdajied equalized through a Mebannangkiew Thabah penalty just before the break. Despite challenging weather conditions and waterlogged turf caused by heavy rain, Mawlai regained the lead in the 61st minute thanks to a Kevin Rymbai strike. With this result, Mawlai moves to four points, while Rangdajied faces a difficult path toward the semifinals. The tournament continues on May 19 with Group B matchups featuring Nangkiew Irat SC against Langsning FC, and Maram FC facing Rymbai Shkenshynriah SC.
