No-Confidence Motion Filed Against Dimapur Municipal Council Chairperson

Kohima: A formal no-confidence motion has been launched against Hukheto Yepthomi, the chairperson of the Dimapur Municipal Council. The motion, which emerged on May 15, is supported by 12 of the 23 elected council members, including the deputy chairperson, and was officially submitted by two council representatives.

According to an official notification from Tinojongshi Chang, the council received the written intent to move the motion on May 11, adhering to the requirements outlined in the Nagaland Municipal Act of 2023. In response, the Deputy Commissioner has called for a special meeting of the elected members to be held at the DMC office on May 22.

During this session, council members will deliberate on the motion and proceed to a formal vote. Per the regulations set forth in the Act, participation in this vote is restricted strictly to elected members, excluding both ex-officio and nominated council participants from the decision-making process.
