Kohima: The Sand Stockist and Supplier Union of Niuland District elected a new leadership team during a general meeting held on June 22. These officials will hold their posts for a five-year term starting in 2026.
Kikato Awomi takes over as president. Joining him are vice-president Unoka Sumi, general secretary Khetoshe Swu, joint secretary Vikheto Uto Chishi, and finance secretary Kiyelho. Executive members Phuton and Qhevika round out the leadership roster.
The union plans to clean up the local sand trade. They intend to track stocks closely and fix rates to match administrative rules. They want to stop illegal mining operations for good. President Kikato Awomi stated, "Our priority is to ensure that sand supply in Niuland remains legal, transparent, and affordable for the public."
The group promised to back all development projects across the district. Members, contractors, and the public must cooperate to make these changes stick. For any official inquiries, the union directed the public to contact General Secretary Khetoshe Swu.
