Niuland Sand Union Installs New Leadership Team

Kohima: The Sand Stockist and Supplier Union in Niuland elected a new leadership slate during a general meeting on June 22. These officials will hold their posts until 2031. The group moved quickly to set their agenda.

Kikato Awomi takes over as president alongside vice-president Unoka Sumi. Khetoshe Swu assumes the role of general secretary, while Vikheto Uto Chishi will work as joint secretary. Kiyehlo takes the finance secretary position, and Phuton and Qhevika round out the team as executive members.

The leadership team plans to clean up the local sand trade. They want to fix supply issues and stop illegal mining in the district. Kikato Awomi emphasized that the union will work to ensure that sand supply in Niuland remains legal, transparent and affordable, while taking steps against illegal mining.
