Shillong: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari arrived in Shillong on Monday to headline the North East Infrastructure Summit and Exhibition. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma welcomed the minister, noting on social media that he was "glad to welcome Gadkari to Shillong for the North East Infrastructure Summit and Exhibition."

The visit centers on the Lariti Performing Arts Centre, where Gadkari will participate in a CEOs Round Table. This event brings together policymakers, industry leaders, and investors to evaluate regional growth and new investment opportunities. The summit aims to foster collaboration on critical infrastructure and connectivity challenges.

Following the summit, the minister will visit Polo Ground to preside over a ceremony for several National Highway projects. These initiatives will see the dedication of completed works and the laying of new foundation stones. Local officials expect these projects to streamline the movement of goods and people while significantly improving access to remote areas of Meghalaya and the broader North Eastern region.
