Agartala: The Empowered Committee of NITI Aayog has officially approved a ₹2 crore development package for the Dasda Aspirational Block in North Tripura. This funding, granted under the Aspirational Blocks Programme, aims to address critical service gaps and foster growth through five targeted initiatives presented virtually by North Tripura District Magistrate and Collector, Chandni Chandran.

A significant portion of the budget, totaling ₹70 lakh, has been earmarked for the construction of the Akanksha Indoor Sports Complex, designed to provide modern athletic facilities for local youth. To empower women entrepreneurs, ₹40 lakh will be invested in establishing the Akanksha Haat, a dedicated rural marketplace that will serve as a hub for products created by local Self-Help Group (SHG) members.

Educational and social welfare improvements also feature prominently in the new plan. The committee sanctioned ₹40 lakh to electrify 200 Anganwadi centres, ensuring enhanced care for children and mothers, while ₹30 lakh will go toward upgrading facilities at four residential hostels to improve student living conditions. Furthermore, ₹20 lakh has been allocated to equip five schools with new computers and projectors to modernize digital learning.

District officials highlighted that these projects are strategically designed to bridge developmental divides at the grassroots level. Following the approval, DM Chandni Chandran expressed appreciation for NITI Aayog's support and confirmed that the district administration is prepared to move quickly into the implementation phase to ensure these resources benefit the community promptly.
