Nine Digital Libraries in Laitkroh Stall Over Missing Funds

Shillong: Nine digital libraries in the Khatar Shnong-Laitkroh Community and Rural Development Block sit idle. The facilities are built but lack funding. The Education Department has yet to deliver the necessary books. The project remains stalled.

Sohra MLA Gavin Miquel Mylliem confirmed the structural work is finished across all nine sites. These hubs are meant to serve rural students with physical texts and digital tools. They need the last check and the inventory to open doors. "All the nine digital libraries under the Khatar Shnong-Laitkroh Community and Rural Development Block are ready for inauguration. We are waiting for the final instalment of funds and for the important books to be made available by the Education Department," Mylliem said.

Officials want the libraries running before the year ends. They are pushing for the final formalities to clear quickly. Students in the region still await access to these learning centers.
