Agartala: The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Agartala is expanding its academic offerings by launching a B.Tech program in Computer Science and Engineering with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The course will begin in the 2026-27 academic session under the NIELIT Deemed to be University.
The program will accommodate 60 students per year. Admissions will be managed through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority counselling process and the institute's internal entrance examination. This expansion aims to bolster technical education across Tripura and the broader North-Eastern region.
To support accessibility, the institute confirmed that tuition fees will be waived for all Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students. These courses, like the existing Diploma, BCA, and M.Tech offerings at the campus, hold approval from the All India Council for Technical Education.
NIELIT Agartala, which operates under the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has served students from its 15-acre R.K. Nagar campus since 2009. The facility provides modern training infrastructure for its various engineering and technical degree programs.
