Guwahati: Workers at the Mahabir Tea Estate in Dibrugarh found a newborn leopard cub on Friday. The animal lay exposed under the intense heat. It appeared to be struggling. Estate management alerted the Forest Department as soon as they discovered the cub.

The animal likely got separated from its mother. Officials have not confirmed this yet. A rescue team is currently en route to evaluate the cub and provide care. They aim to secure the animal quickly.

Local residents have been told to stay away from the site. "Local residents have been advised not to approach the cub or gather near the site, as the mother leopard may be in the vicinity." The mother could be lurking nearby. Staying clear is the best bet for everyone involved.
