Newborn Baby Girl Rescued from Construction Site in Kohima

Kohima: A newborn baby girl was discovered abandoned at a construction site in the Bayavü colony of Kohima on Wednesday morning. Labourers arriving for their shift near the highway, located opposite the Alma Computer Institute, heard the infant crying and alerted nearby residents.

Local witnesses acted quickly to wrap the baby in cloth and transport her to GIVF Hospital for immediate first aid. Medical staff subsequently transferred the infant to the intensive care unit at Naga Hospital for specialized treatment.

Representatives from the Bayavü Panchayat Women Organisation arrived at the scene shortly after the discovery. General secretary Kenei confirmed the infant was secured by witnesses before help arrived, noting, "By the time we arrived, the witness had already taken the baby safely to the hospital. The baby is currently receiving medical treatment at Naga Hospital."

Local police have registered a case regarding the abandonment and have initiated an investigation into the matter.
