Shillong: A new building for the Kambakpara Government Lower Primary School opened in South West Garo Hills on Friday. Mahendraganj MLA Sanjay A. Sangma cut the ribbon at the site. The school started as a venture project back in 1957. It has served generations of local children.
Village leader Rev IA Sangma noted the long history of the institution. He told the crowd that the project fulfilled a long-cherished aspiration of the community. The new facility replaces the aging structure to offer kids a better place to learn.
Sangma used the visit to talk about state goals. Meghalaya plans to build roughly 2,000 new school and college buildings this year. He also promised new sports infrastructure like indoor and mini stadiums for the Mahendraganj constituency to help young people stay active.
Local officials also spoke at the event. Raymond Zachary D. Shira, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, praised the effort. Emphul Ch. Marak, the local education officer, noted that modern buildings help students feel more excited about school. The head teacher, Salmendro A. Sangma, closed the day by thanking everyone who helped build the school.
