Kohima: Dimapur Chief Medical Officer Dr. T. Yetovi Tuccu officially opened a new health Sub-Centre in Vihoshe village on May 29. The facility began operations following a dedicatory prayer led by Shinito Yeptho, pastor of the Vihoshe Village Baptist Church.
During the ceremony, Dr. Tuccu stated that the new centre will bolster local healthcare delivery by focusing on maternal and child health. These services include essential antenatal care and immunization programs. Dr. Tuccu encouraged residents to take pride in the facility and participate fully in its health initiatives.
The health department is prioritizing preventative services and community education at the site. Officials urged villagers to maintain healthy lifestyles by exercising regularly and choosing nutritious food over processed alternatives. They also warned against seeking treatment from unverified practitioners, specifically advising residents to rely on formal medical care.
The event was hosted by Vihoshe Village Council secretary Hokuto I. Swu and included representatives from the Chümoukedima and Dimapur health departments. Other notable attendees included Dr. Yartenla Jamir, Dr. Y. Kheshika Yeptho, and Dr. Lhishelo Tsuhah, alongside various staff members from the regional health units.
