Shillong: Dr. Viola Sonachi B. Sangma released two fresh books in Tura this Saturday. They expand the reach of Garo literature. Prof. Milton S. Sangma, former Pro Vice-Chancellor of NEHU Tura Campus and ICFAI University, handled the launch. The first title, Structuralism Aro Post Structuralism (A.chikkuo Seskaani), translates dense theory for local students.
The second volume, Dak Ge.sao Dakmesokani, Part 2, contains eight one-act plays. These stories pull from scriptural narratives and classic Japanese and French literature to examine Garo society. Work remains hard. The author highlighted the struggle of building technical Garo terminology for complex concepts.
Prof. Sangma praised the achievement during the event. He noted that these publications improve the language as a tool for academic critique. "Providing such theories in the local language is a major benefit for scholars," he said. Dr. Crystal Cornelious D. Marak from NEHU and Dr. Colnat B. Marak of Don Bosco College joined the crowd of well-wishers. Sangma urged peers to produce more translations to grow the field.
