Kohima: Nagaland School Education Advisor Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome officially inaugurated the North Block Council Hall at Kezieke in Kohima on June 20. The project, which serves as a combined community building and panchayat hall, was developed by Kohima Smart City Development Ltd under the Smart City Mission overseen by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
This facility is the seventh of its kind established in Kohima under the mission, following similar projects in wards like Daklane, Midland, and Naga Bazaar. The North Block ward encompasses the Kezieke, Mission Compound, Pezielietsie, and Kenuozou colonies.
Dr. Yhome praised the completion of the hall and its role in fostering community welfare. As the elected representative for the 10th Northern Angami-1 constituency, he pledged to support future growth, stating, "I would extend some developmental projects under Local Area Development Programme." He encouraged residents to propose projects that best meet their local needs.
Local leaders also spoke during the event to emphasize the importance of the new space. Ruokuovolie Rutsa, a councillor for North Block III, urged residents to make effective use of the hall and to stand behind decisions made within the facility for the benefit of the ward. The ceremony included an invocation by Pastor Cassius Solo and musical performances by local residents.
