Kohima: Neichu u Kuotsu officially declared his candidacy for the Ward 11 by-election in Chumoukedima on Saturday. The event, held at the Local Ground in 7th Mile Junction, formalizes his bid to represent the Naga People’s Front. The by-election was prompted by the death of councillor Keneiseto Medoze, and attendees observed a moment of silence to honor his memory.

Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, praised Kuotsu’s background in local government. He pointed to Kuotsu’s past service on the Chumoukedima Town Committee and Council from 2004 to 2010, which included a term as chairperson. Rio also noted that the NPF remains a dominant force in Nagaland’s urban local bodies, holding a majority in the Chumoukedima Town Council.

Addressing voters, Kuotsu pledged to complete the work left behind by his late brother. He promised to prioritize infrastructure improvements, specifically targeting poor road conditions to turn the area into a model ward. He also addressed local rumors regarding his eligibility and residence, labeling them as politically motivated misinformation.

Party officials, including division president Neikhriehu Kense and council chairperson Lhousito Khro, expressed their support for the campaign. Kuotsu urged constituents to vote for the NPF rooster symbol, promising to maintain an accessible office to resolve public grievances if elected.
