Itanagar: Namsai Police have concluded a six-week anti-narcotics operation, resulting in the arrest of seven alleged drug peddlers. During the drive, officers recovered approximately 75.86 grams of suspected heroin from various locations across the district.

The operation was managed by the district Anti-Drug Squad, led by SDOP Kengo Dirchi and overseen by the Superintendent of Police. Authorities stated that the initiative aims to stop the local illegal drug trade and dismantle organized narcotics networks. Officials said the crackdown is part of "ongoing efforts to curb the illegal drug trade and dismantle organised narcotics networks in Namsai."

To address the issue of repeat offenders, police have initiated legal proceedings under the PIT NDPS Act. This measure is intended to ensure habitual drug peddlers remain off the streets as part of the wider effort to secure the region.
