Itanagar: Naharlagun police collared a suspected drug peddler in a sting operation. Officers grabbed 21-year-old Sonny Taba with a stash of heroin and a pile of cash. They acted on solid tips to bring the D-Sector resident into custody.

The bust began with a street-side frisk. Officers pulled 19 vials of suspected heroin from Taba, weighing 20.08 grams. They did not stop there. The team moved to Taba's home to finish the search. They hauled in seven more vials containing another 8.41 grams of the substance.

Police seized 28.49 grams total. They also pocketed 12,900 rupees in cash. Officials believe this money came directly from street sales. The haul is now locked up as evidence for the court.

Taba sits in a jail cell tonight. Police filed FIR 70/2026 under the NDPS Act. Authorities are keeping him for further questioning as the investigation grows. One officer stated, "Taba has been taken into custody and remanded for further probe."
